
Founding Director
Ya-Ping Ko, founding director of WCBA, is both a chartered accountant and a lawyer specialising in taxation law. She has over 20 years’ experience working as a tax director/principal in ‘Big 4’ public practice, an in-house tax manager in a large Canadian-listed multinational corporation and a tax specialist in the ATO. Drawing on her diverse experiences from her previous roles in commerce, public practice and the ATO, Ya-Ping is able to help her clients navigate through complex tax matters to arrive at optimal tax solutions that are conducive to their commercial drivers.
In particular, Ya-Ping has extensive expertise in servicing clients operating in Energy and Resources sector and specialises in dealing with corporate tax issues relating to financing structures, profit repatriation, corporate restructures, mergers & acquisitions and divestment considerations as well as individual tax matters. Ya-Ping also has assisted many of her clients in dealing with the ATO in respect of tax audits and responding to streamlined assurance reviews.
Over the past decade, Ya-Ping has also established a strong prominence in the WA Chinese business community having acted in leadership roles for both KPMG and Deloitte to build their respective Chinese Business practices. Her ability to converse in both spoken and written Mandarin coupled with her strong tax technical knowledge has earnt her a strong reputation amongst many top tier companies operating in WA.
Ya-Ping is passionate about working shoulder-to-shoulder with her clients to ensure they receive the best service possible in the most cost-effective way. By working this way, Ya-Ping has built an impressive list of clienteles which extends across a number of market sectors including energy & resources, mining services, agriculture, renewables, property and retail.
As the founder of WCBA, Ya-Ping’s vision is to establish a public practice focusing on working collaboratively with clients, to deliver practical and cost-effective business solutions that achieve commercial objectives.

Director
Jeff Ren, director of WCBA, has over 10 years’ experience of working as a tax and transfer pricing specialist in public practice, including a ‘Big 4’ public practice and a large mid-tier public practice.
Jeff has extensive experience providing Australian and international tax advice, and transfer pricing solution to companies of various sizes including large private companies, ASX listed corporates as well as multinational organisations. In addition, Jeff has in-depth knowledge into Chinese taxation and legal system that are gained through his employment as tax specialist with a ‘Big 4’ international accounting firm in Shanghai, China.
Jeff holds a Master of Professional Accounting degree of Macquarie University. He was ranked Top Student in both Management Accounting and Economic Analysis by Department of Accounting and Finance of Macquarie University in 2009. Jeff is also a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
